OCALA, Fla. (AP) — An Ocala woman is out nearly $14,000 thanks to a scam involving a company called Mega Millions.

The woman told Marion County Sheriff's deputies on Tuesday that she received a phone call from a man who told her she'd won the lottery.

The Ocala Star-Banner reports the man told her he would send her a check, which she should take to her bank and cash. She was then told to send the money, which was the amount required to cover the taxes for her winnings, to a man in Brooklyn, N.Y., using MoneyGram.
