Drivers for a new ride-sharing service, Lyft, are now facing significant fines and penalties from Miami-Dade County. The service has been around for about two weeks now, but it's operating illegally.

Miami's beer makers have officially unionized. Sort of. The owners of two Miami-Dade County breweries rallied their brewer colleagues to form the Miami Brewers Alliance, a sort of advocacy and education group for local craft-beer businesses.

Outside the glittering new Perez Art Museum Miami, finishing touches were still being applied late last month to the spacious plazas and gardens surrounding the $220 million building. Next door to the art museum, a new science museum is also going up. Jacksonville attorney Wyman Deuggan said he got an email about the alert, but he heard the unfamiliar tones coming from his co-worker's cell phones.

"I was walking down the hall going to a meeting and I kept hearing this tone," he said Tuesday, adding that it sounded like someone's printer had malfunctioned.

Along the street, they stood in a line between the car lane and the bike lane to create a human barrier where event coordinator Jessica Hunter was hit by a car earlier this month.
