Boaters and beachgoers will have fewer places to enjoy the shore in the coming months along the north end of Little Talbot Island State Park. Portions are closed off as birds flock to the private shorelines for nesting.

All shoals and emergent islands, such as Little Bird and Big Bird Island, are considered critical wildlife areas and are also closed. The least tern, black simmer and American Oystercatcher are just some of the species that inhabit the area.

BRYCEVILLE — An evacuation order for Bryceville residents has been lifted and all roads re-opened after a wildfire raged in Nassau County.

Fifty Florida counties will open early voting locations on Monday. Here's where they are in Northeast Florida, along with times and dates they'll be open before Election Day, Nov. 8. Registered voters can choose any early voting location in the county, unlike on Election Day, when they must vote in their precinct.

Florida State Rep. Janet Adkins (R-Fernandina Beach) is calling for awareness of the struggles students with dyslexia face in schools.

Adkins is the chair of the K-12 Education Subcommittee in the Florida House. She has also announced she’s running for Nassau County Schools Superintendent next year.

During an appearance on WJCT's “First Coast Connect,” Adkins talked about how schools can provide better teaching strategies for students with dyslexia.
