The developer behind a major project on the Southbank has unveiled a master plan for the site.

The project is known as The District, and it will sit on 27 acres that used to house a JEA generator site.

The new master plan includes 11,000 residential units in a mixture of townhouses, condominiums and apartments. Developer Peter Rummell said there would also be a cinema, a four-acre park and several riverfront restaurants.

It’s an ambitious plan, with a 230-foot-tall hotel and 200-foot tall apartment building.

The $500 million project is slated to go up for city review in a month or two, and the developer says construction should start in the fall.
