May is National Older Americans Month, and Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown commemorated the month with a visit Tuesday to the Mandarin Senior Center.

The Center is one of 19 in Jacksonville providing activities for the city's growing senior population.

Basketball is one of the newer activities at the Mandarin center; the seniors circle around the basket and shoot for the hoop.

This years theme is "Unleash the Power of Age!" emphasizing the important role of older adults and encouraging them to remain active in their community.
