UNF Bans Hoverboards In Residence Halls Over Fire Concerns

The University of North Florida is banning hoverboards inside and near student housing.

The university sent an email to student-residents this week outlining safety concerns over the two-wheeled, motorized gadgets.

UNF joins other universities that have banned hoverboards after reports their batteries can overheat and catch fire.

The mode of transportation, which is similar to a Segway without a handle, is still allowed on campus— just not in residence halls.
