Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center Report; Changing School Names; Estrella Cocina

TheDelores Barr Weaver Policy Center has released a new report called “Sounding the Alarm: Criminalization of Black Girls in Florida.”

Lawanda Ravoira, President Emeritus of the Center; and Dr. Vanessa Patino Lydia, the organization’s VP of Research & Planning, and the lead researcher on the report, joined us for a look at the findings and what they mean.

AI Saves Vision

A study used artificial intelligence to investigate ways to help save deteriorating eyesight.Dr. Macgregor Lott of Florida Eye Specialists joined us with more. 

Changing School Names

Several Individuals and organizations are speaking out against schools named after controversial figures, and campaigning for them to be changedWells Todd of Take ‘Em Down Jax, one of these groups, joined us with an update on their efforts, and how others can get involved.

Two new restaurants will open soon in Downtown Jacksonville. Dwayne Beliakoff, Co-Founder of Estrella Cocina and The Bread & Board, joined us with a look at what diners will be able to expect.
