Jacksonville’s Main Street Bridge will close this weekend from 6:30 Friday night until 6 a.m. Sunday for work on the mechanism that raises the roadway to allow boats to pass underneath.

The Florida Department of Transportation said crews will also be doing some painting.

Detour signs will direct drivers and pedestrians to the Acosta Bridge.

Boaters won’t be affected.

Work on the Main Street Bridge is part of a $10.5 million improvement project that’s expected to wrap up soon.
