After considering a run for mayor, Jacksonville City Council member Brenda Priestly Jackson said Monday she will seek election in 2023 to an at-large council seat, a plan that brought former state lawmaker and self-proclaimed "demon buster" Kimberly Daniels into what has suddenly become a wide-open race for District 10.
WJCT News partner The Florida Times-Union reports Priestly Jackson won the District 10 council election in 2019 and could have sought a second term in that seat, so a run by her for an at-large seat turns District 10 into a competitive contest in 2023.
Daniels threw her hat in the ring by filing Friday as a District 10 candidate. Daniels, who has called herself a demon buster through her ministry, is returning to the political scene after losing a re-election bid to the state House in 2020.
