St. Johns County names New School Beachside High

St. Johns County School District

The St. Johns County School Board announced Tuesday that a name has been chosen for a new high school scheduled to open for the 2022-2023 school year.

The school, which had been called High School III in the absence of a name, will be called Beachside High, after it beat the name St. Johns High School in a vote.

The school colors are blue, lime green and gray, the district said. A mascot will be chosen in a community vote next week. News4Jax reports the choices have been narrowed down to Barracudas, Beasts, Kraken, Riptide and Tritons.

The school will be located at 1070 Beachwalk Blvd. in the Twin Creeks development. It is expected to accommodate about 2,100 students to alleviate overcrowding at other schools.
