Winn-Dixie builds new store from the ground up — its first in a decade

Construction is nearly finished on Winn-Dixie's new supermarket at Grand Cypress Marketplace in St. Johns County.

More than a decade has passed since Southeastern Grocers Inc. built a Winn-Dixie supermarket from the ground up.

That lull ends next month.

The Jacksonville-based grocer plans to open a new, 41,525-square-foot Winn-Dixie supermarket and a separate 2,088-square-foot liquor store at 8 a.m. Dec. 14 at Grand Cypress Marketplace in northwest St. Johns County.
