Suspect In Cherish Perrywinkle Death Pleads Not Guilty

News 4 Jaxis reporting that Donald James Smith, the man charged with the kidnapping, sexual battery and murder of 8-year-old Cherish Perrywinkle last month, has entered a not guilty plea to the charges at a hearing Tuesday morning.

The State Attorney's Office has announced that it will be seeking the death penalty against Smith. The 56-year-old is a registered sex offender who had been released from jail a only month before Cherish was kidnapped and killed.
