The Duval County Courthouse has a 3-acre lawn in the heart of Downtown Jacksonville. But there’s a plan to tranform what's essentially a big empty space, through public art.
Through the city's Art in Public Places Committee, a team will be commissioned to remake the plaza in the fall of 2020.
But first, the public’s input is being sought through an online survey and community engagement meetings on February 5, 8 and April 1.
The Duval County Courthouse Plaza project has $619,000 in art funding set aside, which is being managed by the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville.
The meetings will be held as follows:

The group of stakeholders will analyze the ideas, opportunities and improvement costs to come up with a work plan to farm out to artists.
