Local cruise company Carnival Corp. is under scrutiny. Last week, a federal judge threaten to stop the cruise line from docking its ships at U.S. ports because the company violated its probation for illegally dumping oil in the ocean in 2017. Florida Atlantic University (FAU) has developed a new survey that tests the knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease in Florida rural communities. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the U.S. and many of the people who have it are 65 and older and live in rural areas. Dr. Lisa Wiese, associate professor at FAU joined Sundial to talk about a grant she received from the Association of Community Health Nursing Educators and Florida Department of Health to do the testing.
The Patriotic Millionaires are a group of millionaires who have an income of over $1 million dollars and/or assets of over $5 million dollars that have been campaigning across the country for a more equitable tax system. They started advocating for more taxes to millionaires in 2010 in response to the Bush administration’s tax cuts. Miami-based member Robert Goldschmidt joined Sundial to explain why the group is focused on tax policy.
