If you love Jazz, this is your weekend with plenty of top notch Jazz performances in Downtown Jacksonville. But there are a good deal of things to do this weekend other than Jazz. Here are some suggestions. Have a safe Memorial Day Weekend and don't forget the sunscreen.
1) Jacksonville Jazz Festival Friday – Sunday in the Heart of Downtown Jacksonville

2) Free Friday Wine Tastings May 24, 5:00pm - 8:00pm complimentary wine or beer tasting. Local consultants will be pouring wines and or beers from their portfolio to further educate us on the selected products for the evening. No corkage will apply to wines featured during the tasting!
3) She's a Big Girl Now May 24, 7:30pm St. Augustine: Limelight Theatre - Koger Gamache Black Box She’s a Big Girl Now is set in Jacksonville and Brunswick, Georgia between 1979 and 1994. The inspiration for the play was Southern women the writer and director Ian Mairs has known throughout his life. Friday May 24 at 7:30pm 2 for $25 Sat May 25 at 2pm matinee 2 for $25
4) Lillie's Cool Jazz Weekends May 24, 7:30pm - 9:30pm Lillie's Coffee Bar Cool Jazz every Friday & Saturday Night, at Lillie’s Coffee Bar 7:30-9:30 pm, rain or shine. This event will be held in the Courtyard, weather permitting, or inside the Coffee Bar.
5) Lavilla School of the Arts Summer Camp Registration May 24, LaVilla is now taking reservations for Summer Camp 2013. A variety of camp experiences are available for ages 3 through rising 10th grade. Weekly camp sessions start at $135 per week and run from 9 AM to 3PM. Extended day — from 7AM to 6PM — is available for an additional $30 per week. Students can take part in storytelling, arts & crafts, dance, drama, guitar, science, visual arts and much more. 6) Yes Way Galloway Beginner's Training Run May 25, 7am Riverside/Avondale: Yates Family YMCA The 26.2 with Donna National Breast Cancer Marathon and Jeff Galloway are teaming up again! We are offering a beginner’s program for both full and half marathon events as well as the Donna 5K & Family Fun Run. This program is a 7-8 week program designed for participants who are new to the sport of running, or new to the Galloway method. This program will focus on the basics, allow for one-on-one coaching, and to start our runs will be under 1 mile. Our first Getting Started program for those interested in moving on to train for the marathon will begin on Saturday, May 25.
7) The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens Future Retro: The Great Age of the American Automobile This exhibition, comprised mainly of drawings from the collection of Frederick A. Sharf, showcases the beauty and ingenuity of American automotive design during the decades following World War II, a landmark period in car styling. An eclectic mix of illustrations, from preliminary sketches to fully rendered works, provides a rare glimpse into the creative process at some of America’s premiere car companies. Dating from an era when speed and power were increasingly important factors in automotive sales, these drawings show reference to the emerging technologies that influenced postwar car design, like airplanes and rockets. 8) Secular Sunday in the Park May 26, 10am Mandarin: Losco Regional Park - Under the pavilion. Freethought Society. Founded in 1998, we are a group of freethinkers dedicated to promoting science and reason over dogma, faith, and belief in the supernatural.
9) Bike Tour Attraction -Historic Riverside/Avondale May 26, The richness and variety of homes seen on this ride is remarkable. Architectural gems include Prairie, Colonial Revival, Georgian, Shingle, Queen Anne/Victorian, Bungalow and Tudor styles and they are in abundance. Free Parking. Shops, restaurants, parks, tennis courts, an art museum and an area to fish are available after the attraction. Tour is $64 per rider. Tour is $39 if you bring your your own bike, helmet, water and snacks. $5 service and handling fee per credit card transaction.
10) Concert on the Green May 26, 4:00pm - 10:00pm Clay County: Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club Each year, the Concert on the Green hosts a symphony concert for thousands of local residents in a beautiful outdoor setting. Local musical performers and choral groups will be featured pre-concert in addition to prize-winning contests, a skydiving team, & activities for the children. The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra will be performing light classical and pops arrangements in addition to the traditional rousing grand finale of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture during the conclusion of a spectacular fireworks show.
