Jacksonville will soon be home to a new literary magazine. The local writers collaborative left on mallory is publishing its first issue in fall 2014.
The collective was created out of a need to provide a place where writers could share their work and meet others who share similar interests.
Jared Rypkema, one of the creators, hosts about 10-12 writers in workshops at his home — located just left on Mallory St. in Riverside — in an effort to help them develop their work.
“We could grow that writing culture and build it up to where Jacksonville does become a more literary city with more creative writers and more people coming to the city to be a part of the creative community,” Rypkema said.
Rypkema hopes that by providing workshops and a forum for publication with the literary magazine, literary talent will begin to gain recognition in the First Coast community.
left on mallory expects to publish the literary magazine twice a year, and will be calling for open submissions for the first issue beginning in May 2014.
"We can provide writers in Jacksonville a place to get their work published and grow right from home," said Rypkema
