A big deadline is coming up for those interested in being part of the second edition of the world’s first crowdfunding festival. The 2014 One Spark festival is set to take place in downtown Jacksonville from April 9-13, and the deadline to register as a creator is Feb. 21.
"This year, we're really seeking more science and technology projects," said Meredith O’Malley Johnson, public relations and volunteer services manager for One Spark.
O'Malley says visitors to BeOneSpark.com can not only register their ideas, but also get involved in "matchmaking" with downtown venues to display their concepts during the event.
$310,000 in crowdfunding and some $3.2 million in capital investments will be awarded to the festival's top vote-getters.
