Tony Allegretti On His New Role As Cultural Council Director

Considered by many to be a visionary leader in Jacksonville's cultural landscape, Tony Allegretti is leaving his post at the JAX Chamber to become the next executive director of the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville.One of downtown Jacksonville's most ardent champions, Allegretti served as director of downtown engagement at the chamber for the last two years. He begins his new position on May 1.

Allegretti spoke with Melissa Ross about the positioning of Jacksonville on a national scale due in part to One Spark and his plans for the future of the city in his new role.

Citing statistics that more than $20 comes back to the city in business generated from every dollar spent on arts and culture, Allegretti said he is excited to be starting at the Cultural Council.

"It's such a part of who we are and such a great business, it makes a lot of business sense too."

Allegretti said he expects there will be many joint projects between the JAX Chamber and the council to better promote the economic impact of arts and culture on the city.
