Some jazz greats are headlining the 2016 Jacksonville Jazz Festival this May.

The full lineup was released Thursday and include a number of highly respected jazz performers, including vocalist Lizz Wright, multi-instrumentalist John Batiste & The Stay Human and pianist McCoy Tyner, who embraces a multitude of styles — from African and Latin rhythms to the modal harmonies of the post-bebop era.

Among the local musicians slated to perform this year are the Douglas Anderson Jazz Band, The Chris Thomas Band, and John Lumpkin and the Covenant.

This year's event also includes a jazz piano competition, a jazz brunch, a jazz clinic, a jazz jam and, of course, Jazz Fest After Dark.

Downtown Jacksonville’s annual four-day festival begins Memorial Day Weekend and runs May 26-29. And, as always, it’s free.
