Smells Like Grunge, Nirvana tribute band at 1904 Music Hall

Smells Like Grunge, the premier Nirvana tribute band, is bringing flannel back to Jacksonville Friday at 1904 Music Hall. The band puts on a show that few other tribute bands can emulate by including multiple wardrobe changes and performing an MTV Unplugged set during the show. The band puts on a Nirvana experience that’s as good as it gets. Tickets are from $8 to $10. The all-ages event begins at 8 p.m.

'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'

The cult classic comes to The Florida Theatre at 8 p.m. on Saturday. The film is a tribute to the B-movies of the 40’s and 50’s, and has even been preserved by the Library of Congress. Costumes and props are encouraged at this showing and there will also be live music. Tickets are $15.

Guinness World Record Attempt: Largest Water Balloon Fight

The Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Florida is inviting everyone in Jacksonville to unite in breaking the Guinness World Record of the world’s largest water balloon fight. It will take place at the Coxwell Amphitheater at the University of North Florida. At only $1 admission to participate, why wouldn’t you want to be part of the fun? There will be over 150,000 water balloons, 9,000 expected participants, and one broken record. Proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Club. The last balloon fight record was 8,957.

Georgia vs. Florida weekend celebration

The Jacksonville Landing will be hosting events centered around the age old rivalry between the Florida Gators and the Georgia Bulldogs. The celebration starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday and goes until 2 a.m. on Sunday. There will be live performances by RadioLove taking place on the Coca-Cola Riverfront Stage, and a chance to catch the game on a huge Jumbotron while you party.

'Nosferatu'

Nosferatu

The classic horror flim, Nosferatu, will be shown at the Terry Concert Hall at Jacksonville University at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. The showing is part of a Jacksonville Cultural Council Spark Grant that was awarded to JU and Professor Tony Steve. Steve and some music students will supply the music live for the showing. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for seniors, military, students and kids 17 and under.
