A new exhibit that’s centered around the fashion of the PBS series opens to the public at the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine on October 4.
“Dressing Downton,” which will be at the museum through January 7, features a display of 36 authentic Edwardian Era costumes and accessories from PBS’s most popular television drama in history.
Amy Tillotson creates costumes for many of the community theater productions in Jacksonville.
“You get to see the costumer’s art and their interpretation of the character. You know, all of their clothes should look like they came from the same closet, like a normal person, said Tillotson.
She says an exhibit like this is more than just a window on history. "So rather than gathering things from history, it’s almost a whole painting of a person’s interpretation of who this was and how they dressed and how they presented themselves.”
