Jacksonville residents who live near the airport will no longer have to drive into town to get specialized medical care.
UF Health North had its official ribbon cutting ceremony today.
The brand-new, state of the art out-patient medical complex on Max Leggett Parkway boasts a full-service emergency room, birth center, advanced imaging services and lots of natural light.
UF Health Jacksonville CEO Russ Armistad is especially proud of one feature: light towers. The light towers are glass enclosed areas throughout the building filled with trees and vegetation that bring in natural night.
The emergency room will begin treating patients on Tuesday; the birth center and other outpatient services will open in early March. A 92 bed hospital slated to open in early 2017 will be built next to the medical complex.
