Jacksonville Embraer Factory To Build Attack Planes For Lebanese Air Force

Embraer

The Lebanese Air Force is buying six aircraft that will be built right here in Jacksonville.

About two years ago, Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer rolled out the first A-29 Super Tucano attack plane built in Jacksonville. Now, that facility has a new contract.

The Republic of Lebanon is acquiring six of the aircraft, the company said. The purchase is part of a $462 million deal that includes the aircraft as well as maintenance, training and other support.

Super Tucanos are used by 10 air forces around the world.

About 140 people work at the Jacksonville facility, which is producing 20 of the planes for Afghanistan.
