After a month of work on the planned Cowford Chophouse in downtown Jacksonville, restaurant owners say the project is proceeding on schedule for a fall opening.
The restaurant planned for an historic building on East Bay Street is on track for construction to be completed in the summer.
The massive piles upon which the foundation will sit have been installed, and a new foundation will be poured in coming weeks. Also on the schedule is the building of interior walls, restoration of the original cornice and installation of historic windows.
The multimillion dollar project is being handled by Elkins Construction.
Even before it opens, the Chophouse is being seen as one sign of a resurgence in Downtown dining. Owner group Forking Amazing Restaurants also runs Il Desco in Riverside, Bistro Aix in San Marco and Ovinté at the St. Johns Town Center.
