A long-time Jacksonville company has lost a multimillion-dollar lawsuit.
Swisher International is being told to pay 44 million dollars in damages after it lost an anti-trust lawsuit.
Swisher was sued by Trendsettah USA Inc. When Trendsettah was stating out, it contracted with Swisher to have the Jacksonville company make its mini cigars.
As Trendsettah’s products became more popular, the lawsuit says, it became competition for Swisher. That’s when Swisher began producing fewer cigars, forcing Trendsettah out of the market.
Swisher said it is considering its options and may appeal.
