Bestselling Authors Attend Annual St. Augustine Bookfest

FHBF

The 6th Annual Florida Heritage Book Festival and Writer's Conference will be held Sept. 26-28 at the World Golf Village and Flagler College campus in St. Augustine.

Workshops will be available Thursday and Friday at the World Golf Village Renaissance Resort, with speakers such as distinguished authors Andrew Gross and Tim Dorsey.

The two will speak at separate times in an opportunity for budding writers to learn from bestselling authors.

"These people know their craft well," said First Coast author Karen Harvey.

Friday's event will honor literary legend John Jakes, a writer of historic fiction with bestselling period titles such as North and South, the Kent Chronicles, Savannah and Charleston.

Harvey said people at the event will be dressed in Civil War Era clothing, and encourages attendees to dress up in period clothing as well.

Saturday's event will be free and open to the public at Flagler College's Ringhaver Student Center.

Harvey said there will be many prominent authors speaking all throughout the day, and said it's a chance to learn from authors who cracked the code of getting published.

She said it's a great chance for aspiring authors to learn, network and meet other famous authors.
