Hundreds of community and business leaders gathered at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Jacksonville on Tuesday to kick off the United Way of Northeast Florida's 2013 fundraising campaign.
The theme this year is "All In This Together," and officials hope to raise about half-a-million dollars more than last year's $15 million.
2013 United Way Campaign Chair Arie "Chip" Vance from Enterprise Holdings says they are placing a greater emphasis on donations to the community impact fund which focus on health, education and income.
The campaign actually started a few weeks ago, and some companies presented their preliminary numbers Tuesday.
Publix has raised $1.5 million from it's employees, CSX has raised $1.75 million.
Vance says the some of the programs funded by the United Way donations includes the Success by Six program which gives families a two-year scholarship for a quality early learning center.
