With record cold temperatures expected for the First Coast tonight, farmers are bringing in their livestock and covering what plants they can.At the Black Hog Farm in East Palatka, Luke Watkins and family have been working overtime to get ready for the cold snap.

He said one of his biggest concerns is how the animals will be affected by the dramatic changes in temperature. Watkins said animals are like people and big temperature changes can effect their immune system.

"When it comes to farming you can only do so much," he said. "When it comes to Mother Nature she rules."

Watkins said frost is the biggest concern with his crops but he'll save what he can.

Temperatures are expected to fall into the low 20s and upper teens across Northern Florida tonight.

Highs Tuesday are expected to be in the upper 30s, with temperatures returning to the 70's by the weekend.
