Expect heavy rain and a thunderstorm or two as a low pressure system moves across the Jacksonville area today.Forecaster Ben Nelson with the National Weather Service says we can expect as much as 2 inches of rain, which could cause some flooding in low lying areas.
But, Nelson says, the weather picture should be considerably brighter by the weekend.
"We’ll briefly cool down with perhaps lows in the upper 30's to lower 40's heading into Saturday morning and then after that we’re going to warm up substantially," he said, describing a possible four or five day stretch of 70 degree weather starting this weekend.
Rain probability drops from 100 percent this afternoon to 40 percent on Friday. High temperatures will be in the upper 50's to lower 60's.
