The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra’s Starry Nights concert series is returning to Metropolitan Park this summer. The JSO will perform later this year with artists Chicago and Christopher Cross. The popular Starry Nights series went on hiatus 10 years ago due to budget constraints.

Jacksonville Symphony Association President David Pierson said it’s an exciting opportunity to be able to bring back the series. He says it’s a chance for the symphony to expand its reach into the community.

"It's a great opportunity for us to actually bring back a series that reaches a whole different segment of the population," he said. "We seat six to eight-thousand people at Metropolitan Park. For most of these concerts a lot of people enjoy this venue. It serves our mission in bringing the orchestra to as many people in the community as possible."

Chicago will perform on May 31, Christopher Cross will appear June 7. Subscription table seats on sale now. Single event tickets including lawn access go on sale April 7.

Both concerts will be begin rain or shine at 8:15 p.m. unless conditions endanger the safety of the audience or artists.

Mayor Alvin Brown said he’s excited to being more entertainment opportunities to downtown Jacksonville.
