Reports came out in October that Jones College Radio, the local easy-listening station broadcast from Jones College since 1964, had sold their licenses. As of Monday, music and program director Tom Buetow called these reports "rumors and stories."
According to an article from Radio Survivor, a news blog concerning all things radio, Jones College Radio was selling their licenses to a religious broadcaster called Educational Media Foundation. WKTZ-FM would carry K-LOVE, a Christian music and programming station, and WJAX-AM would have Radio Nueva Vida, a Spanish language Christian station.
Despite this report, Buetow said in an email Monday that general manager Ken Jones has told him to say one thing:
"We cannot confirm or deny those reports."
The Federal Communications Commission's Broadcast Actions Report No: 48341 states that both the AM station WJAX and WKTZ-FM were granted with condition to Educational Media Foundation in early October.
Buetow said that there may be an official announcement made after Thanksgiving.
