Hemming Park is launching a brand new beer garden.
Every Thursday at happy hour time, the park will sell beer and wine, alongside food trucks and live music.
Friends of Hemming Park’s Sarah Collins says, “We just want to help to keep people who live and work downtown here from that 5 to 8 o’ clock window, and then hopefully they'll branch out and visit some of the great restaurants and bars that downtown has to offer."
Collins says Thursday nights are already happening downtown with the branding of The Elbow entertainment district nearby.
In addition to serving beer and wine, Hemming Park will also host rotating bartenders from popular bars and restaurants, who will serve craft cocktails. Beers will be $5 each or two for $8.
The Hemming Park Beer Garden is open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday in September and then 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday after that.
On Thursday, Sept. 24, Friends of Hemming Park invites visitors to a community forum at the park, where representatives of the Project for Public Spaces will be asking for input on future park programming.
