Florida State College at Jacksonville has announced a new partnership with Code.org, a Seattle-based nonprofit dedicated to expanding student’s access to computer science education.
FSCJ will be offering Code.org learning programs, training teachers to develop K-12 computer science courses in the Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns county school districts.
These courses will prepare students for an array of jobs in the field upon graduation, including the basics about algorithms, analyzing data, utilizing the internet and app creation.
“By offering Code.org professional learning programs, FSCJ will give teachers the tools and support they need to introduce foundational 21st-century knowledge into their classrooms and put all students on a path to success in today's high-tech world," Hadi Partovi, CEO and founder of Code.org said.
FSCJ will begin training later this year.
