WJCT News Is Hiring A Talk Show Producer For “First Coast Connect”!

This could be you.

Are you a newshound? Creative? A public media lover?

As our “First Coast Connect” talk show producer, you’ll get to help drive important — sometimes difficult — conversations on WJCT's flagship, daily call-in show. Since its founding seven years ago, “First Coast Connect” and host Melissa Ross have been voted audience favorites in local polls nearly every year and have racked up national awards recognizing the quality of the show.

This job might be for you if:

  • You have the instincts to recognize a great show topic and can generate amazing ideas.
  • You enjoy (and are skilled at) every part of the radio production process—from brainstorming and setting up interviews, to running a sound board, mixing audio and making guests feel at home.
  • You know a thing or two about the Northeast Florida region: Who the power players are, where to find the untold stories, and what regular people are talking about around the water cooler.
  • You're great under pressure and don't mind the surprises that can pop up during a live show.

It’s WJCT's mission to create content that  brings people together to celebrate human diversity, experience lifelong learning and actively engage in matters of civic importance. We want our programs to improve the quality of life for people in our community.

You’ll love working here, but when you’re not working…

Shh, Jacksonville is one of Florida’s best-kept secrets. It’s a growing, diverse city located on the St. Johns River with beautiful beaches and one of the largest urban park systems in the nation. It’s home to the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and The PLAYERS Championship as well as minor league soccer, baseball and arena football teams.

This town has a strong arts and cultural scene and, according to Forbes, Jacksonville is a “surprising foodie city.” (It’s not a surprise to those of us who live here).
