Faith Matters: The Role Of Faith, Religion In Philanthropy

A recent study in the Chronicle of Philanthropy shows that religious Americans give more to charity than nonreligious people.

In this episode of Faith Matters,  hosts Kyle Reese and Nancy Broner explore the role of faith and religion in philanthropy.

A study from 2006 to 2012 showed charitable giving by Jacksonville residents increased by nearly 7 percent, the second highest increase by a city in the nation. In 2015, individuals donated $962 million to charitable organizations. What does this say about Jacksonville?

Guest include Nina Waters, president of The Community Foundation; Gary Chartrand, executive chairman of Acosta Sales & Marketing; Pastor Claire Chance of Avondale United Methodist Church; Imam Shamudeen of the Islamic Center of Northeast Florida; Father Nick Louh of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church; Rabbi Jonathan Lubliner, senior Rabbi of the Jacksonville Jewish Center.
Among the topics discussed is the "Giving Profile" of Jacksonville.
