FSCJ Board Approves Reorganization Plan

Kevin Meerschaert

The Florida State College at Jacksonville Board of Trustees has approved a reorganization plan of the school’s administration.

The size of the cabinet and the number of people who report directly to the President has been reduced.

Several positions are being eliminated.

Interim President Willis Holcombe says the changes will make the college more efficient and reduce expenses.

FSCJ needs to cut $9 million from the upcoming budget due a drop in enrollment. Holcome says the reorganization would have occurred even if their wasn't a budget hole to fill.

He says as the economy improves students either leave or cut down on the number of classes they attend because they’ve found work.

Holcombe will present his budget cutting recommendations to the Board at a May 29th workshop.

Kevin Meerschaert has left WJCT for new pursuits. He was the producer of First Coast Connect until October of 2018.
