The proposed $1.7 billion budget tentatively approved by the Duval County school board last night is available on the district's website here.
Board chairman Fel Lee says releasing it through the site gives the public the opportunity to review and weigh in on the budget before its final approval in September.
According to Lee, the proposed spending plan also contains several million dollars from the state that have yet to be plugged in.
“We’re going to get around $7 million extra dollars. So now what the board’s got to do (it’s part of our budget) [is] to determine where are we going to allocate it. So we will do that in the next couple of weeks. It's a good problem to have," he says.
In addition to the spending plan, the board also tentatively approved next year’s school tax rate which will be 4-percent lower than last year’s.
A final vote is set for Monday, September 16th.
