Are you doing some traveling this Spring? You may want to make sure you have your smart phone handy.
As Jax Computer Chic Elizabeth Pampalone told us in this week's Tech Tuesday segment on First Coast Connect, there are many new apps that can help to make your trip easier. If you're feeling adventurous, there are also some that help you explore new areas.
Here are a few of the highlights:
- Passbook - This app from Apple acts like an electronic wallet that lets you store a number of tickets, boarding passes, hotel confirmations, and even some concert tickets without having to actually print them. Just show them your phone, and you're good to go! Note: This app is only available for iOS devices like iPhones and iPads running iOS 6.
- Open Table - Need to make some last minute dinner reservations? Open Table lets you make them on the fly from your smart phone, and can help you find new restaurants if you want to try something different. Pull up the city you're in for a full list of participating restaurants.
- AroundMe - Trying to find something to do in a city you've never visited? Need to find an ATM? AroundMe helps you discover stores, banks, places to eat and many other things that are in your vicinity.
Check out all of Elizabeth's suggestions over on her site, and look for these apps in the Apple App Store or the Google Play market.
