This week Circuit Judge Henry Davis wrote a letter to the Florida Times-Union opinion page saying that Duval County Public Schools are unnecessarily violent and a less than ideal learning environment.
Davis said the district is unable to adequately prevent school-related violence, evidence for which he sees regularly in his courtroom.
DCPS Superintendent Nikolai Vitti strongly disagrees, saying the district has made many changes to improve safety and has also formed a task force on the issue.
