Jacksonville University Marine Researchers Launch Floating Classroom On The St. Johns River

Researchers at Jacksonville University recently opened one of their newest classrooms with a little champagne and a river's worth of water. On Jan. 31, the school christened a new state-of-the-art floating classroom docked on the St. Johns River at their Marine Science Research Institute.

They also dedicated new floating docks, a sailing fleet and rowing shells. The new facilities and vessels represent more than $500,000 of investment at the JU waterfront.

Jacksonville University MSRI executive director Quinton White and graduate student researcher Madelyn Woods joined Melissa Ross at the institute to discuss the new floating classroom, research and their unique partnerships with the St. Johns Riverkeeper and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.
