ONLY IN FLORIDA: State Prosecutor Wishes 'Crack Hoes' A Happy Mothers Day Via Facebook

Crack hoes, gator vigilantes, and a chronic burper looking for help are the focus of this week's ONLY IN FLORIDA.ONLY IN FLORIDA is our weekly roundup of the strange, bizarre and just plain ridiculous headlines from right here in the Sunshine State.

ONLY IN FLORIDA do state prosecutors call their constituents “crack hoes” on Facebook.

Orange County Assistant State Attorney Kenneth Lewis wished a happy Mothers Day to “crack hoes” on his personal Facebook page, and asked that they, “tie your tubes, clean up your life and be a better mother.”

Lewis’ defenders point out political speech is protected by the First Amendment. His supervisors are reviewing his past cases after public outrage over the posts. (WESH, WFTV)

ONLY IN FLORIDA do suspected auto thieves get nabbed because their getaway car strikes an alligator.

Police say 22-year-old Calvin Rodriguez was driving a hot Honda Civic on Tuesday when he was spotted by Port St. Lucie Police. Rodriguez sped off with cops on his tail.

His path to freedom was cut short when he ran right into a gator that was crossing the road.

Rodriguez is in jail on felony theft charges, there is no word on whether the gator survived. (The Smoking Gun)

ONLY IN FLORIDA do people take to YouTube because they are unable to stop burping.

Ron Johnson of Venice, Florida, has been burping nonstop for two years after having surgery. He is so desperate for help he’s put his problem on YouTube...

Ron doesn't have health insurance, so he's having to piecemeal appointments and pricey lab tests together. He's hoping someone will see his video and be inspired to help. (New York Daily News)
