No Plans? No Problem! Things To Do This Weekend On The First Coast

From jazz to improv, there's a lot happening on the First Coast this weekend.Friday, July 18 – Longineu Parsons, who has performed and recorded with Cab Calloway, Nat Adderley, Cecil Taylor, Nancy Wilson, Joe Williams and Herbie Mann, among others, has been hailed by critics internationally as being one of the world’s finest trumpet players. He also performs on recorder, flute, percussion and is a vocalist. Parsons and blues ensemble 21 Blue will be at Dirty Reds restaurant in Neptune Beach from 9 p.m.-midnight. More info on Facebook.

Friday, July 18-Sunday, July 20 – Make a new best friend at the First Coast No More Homeless Pets Mega Pet Adoption Event at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds. There are 1,000 adoptable pets with an adoption fee of $25 for all pets, including spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines and city license; free for military with ID. Event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free parking. More info at fcnmhp.org.

Saturday, July 19 –Celebrate eight years of Jacksonville improv comedy at Mad Cowford: Way Off Broadway, a one night only event. Watch as players improvise their way through fast-paced games, scenes, sketches, and perhaps even a short musical, all created from your suggestions.
