Dealing with crime in Jacksonville has become an issue for business owners in the city’s so-called "Ceasefire Zone."
Violent crime is rampant in this area of Northwest Jacksonville, which has seen multiple shootings every week in 2014. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office began an initiative called Operation Ceasefire earlier this year in response to the uptick in gun crimes in the region.
It can be tough enough to keep a business up and running even in a safe and peaceful neighborhood, but doing business in a war zone is even tougher.
The Jacksonville Business Journal takes a closer look at the challenges for business owners on the Northwest side in an in-depth report called "Under the Gun."
Reporter Colleen Michele Jones joined First Coast Connect guest host Mike Miller with more about the issue.
