Media Roundtable: Khan Condemns Rice, Supports Goodell

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan issued a statement Thursday condemning former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice for domestic abuse against his fiancé. The shocking violence was recorded on an elevator video camera.

Khan said he supports embattled NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who is under fire after it emerged that the NFL had been sent the videotape months ago but Rice only suffered a two-game suspension at the time. Once the video surfaced on the website TMZ and went viral, the league terminated Rice’s contract.

Joining us on our regular Friday roundtable to discuss this and other stories from the week was our panel of local journalists:

Other topics include President Barack Obama's announcement of a U.S. led coalition to combat the threat of the Islamic State, the proposed city budget currently working its way through the Jacksonville City Council, and the bear found in a Jacksonville Beach neighborhood this week.
