Voices for Florida Girls is a statewide membership initiative that supports the well-being of girls in our state by ensuring that they have the opportunity to succeed in life and reach their highest potential, particularly girls at risk. Instrumental in that effort is Jacksonville’s Dolores Barr Weaver Policy Center, which uses research, advocacy and training to advance the rights of girls and women in the justice and child protection systems. We speak with Dr. LawandaRavoira, President & CEO of the Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center, Dorothy Pitman Hughes, advocate for women and civil rights icon, and Tayloe McDonald, Director of Strategic Planning and Public Affairs with the Policy Center.
Dennis Bushnell, chief scientist at NASA’s Langley Research Center, joins us to discuss what he calls unconventional solutions to addressing climate change and its effects on seal level rise in Florida.
Finally we speak with Mayo Clinic breast cancer research Dr. Edith Perez and former Jacksonville news anchor and 26.2 With Donna Marathon founder Donna Deegan about the eighth annual marathon and progress being made in the fight against the disease.
