Fourth Circuit Public Defender Matt Shirk is seeking a third term.
Shirk has confirmed that he will run for re-election, and says he's trying to move past controversy that has dogged his time in office.
That includes a scathing grand jury report that recommended he resign after allegations he sent sexually suggestive text messages to employees, deleted public records and spent campaign funds on behalf of a family member.

The latest, state-of-the-art technology is now being used to battle traffic jams in our area. The new North Florida Regional Transportation Management Center features a wall of videos with 18 screens streaming real-time traffic conditions from hundreds of roadside cameras around the region. Multiple different agencies are housed inside the center on North Jefferson Street to streamline communication. We discuss it with Jeff Sheffield, CEO of the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization, and Pete Vega with the Florida Department of Transportation.
