01/15/16: Media Roundtable Week In Review; Elton Rivas; '42nd Street'; 'Blue Trees' Art Installation

We discuss the week's biggest news stories with our roundtable of local journalists: Fred Matthews, Examiner blogger; Larry Hannan, Florida Times-Union reporter; Claire Goforth, Folio Weekly writer; and WJCT analyst John Burr.

Topics include the latest on Jacksonville's human rights ordinance, the start of the state legislative session, and the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on Florida's death penalty.

Jacksonville’s One Spark crowdfunding festival made headlines this week after founder Elton Rivas was asked to resign from his position as CEO. Financial backer Peter Rummel says the organization is rebooting and looking at changing from a week-long event to a year-round effort connecting creators with venture capital. We speak with Elton Rivas about his resignation and the future of One Spark.

"42nd Street" star Caitlin Ehlinger joins us with a preview of the show, onstage this week at the Florida Times-Union Center.

Internationally renowned artist Konstantin Demopoulos is bringing his social and environmental art installation, "The Blue Trees," to Jacksonville this weekend. It’s part of a worldwide conversation about deforestation and its global impact. Greenscape of Jacksonville invited Dimopoulos to re-create this project, which has been hosted in London, Singapore, Vancouver, and many other cities. We speak with Demopoulos and Greenscape of Jacksonville executive director Anna Dooley.
