02/22/16: Curry Endorses Rubio; HRO; Race-Relations; STEAM Fair; Cole Pepper

First this morning:

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry endorsed Marco Rubio for president on Sunday.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush dropped out of the race following disappointing showing in the South Carolina primary.

Also:

Mayor Curry came out against expanding Jacksonville’s human rights ordinance to cover LGBT citizens.

      And two bills before the City Council looking at the issue were withdrawn. But the issue of the HRO isn’t going away. Activists say they’ll keep pressing the matter. Kelly Pope is a Jacksonville native and identifies as non-binary.

Then:

New study circles on race are taking place in Jacksonville. It was all sparked after a series of troubling incidents around town, that including some KKK flyers being distributed. Facilitators Chevara Orrin and Daniel Locke are here now with more.

And:

The 4th Annual Jacksonville Science Festival, a free city-wide event, is coming up later this week.

The festival promotes STEAM education and provides an opportunity for all students, regardless of their financial restrictions or learning style, to showcase their research through interactive presentations.
