Another forum looking at bringing down the high crime rate in Jacksonville is set for next week.

Spiking homicide rates and youth violence in this area have once again become a topic of major concern.

We discuss efforts to curb youth violence, as well as work to address low literacy rates, with W.C. Gentry, board chair of for the Jax Journey, and founder of the Read It Forward Jax Coalition.

Also:

Henny Stewart, co-host of First Coast News' The Chat, and Joseph O'Hern, WJCT entertainment contributor, join us to discuss the upcoming Academy Awards and the #OscarsSoWhite criticism about a white male-dominated Hollywood.

We spoke with noted violinist Joshua Bell about his performance with the Jacksonville Symphony this week.

And we learn about a special opportunity to study French language and culture in Nantes, Frances, presented by The Université Permanente in Nantes and The Maison des États-Unis. Sheila Kloc, president of Alliance Francaise de Jacksonville, and Richard Shieldhouse, vice president of the Jacksonville Sister Cities Association, join us.
