04/29/16: Media Roundtable; Valerie Plame Wilson; 'The Explorerers Club'; Mud Morganfield

Media Roundtable Week in Review

We discuss the week's biggest news stories with our roundtable of local journalists: Sebastian Kitchen, Florida Times-Union reporter; Fred Matthews, Examiner blogger; Tim Gibbons, Jacksonville Business Journal editor; and WJCT News analyst John Burr.

Topics include Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry and City Councilman Garrett Dennis' meeting with United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro concerning the Eureka Garden housing complex, and more.

Valerie Plame Wilson

Valerie Plame Wilson is often remembered for being outed by the Bush administration as a covert CIA agent. She wrote about that experience in her New York Times bestselling memoir, "Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House."

She's also an advocate for postpartum depression after struggling with the condition following the birth of her twins.

Valerie Plame Wilson will discuss her experiences at the upcoming Sisisky-Kleppinger Annual Endowed Lecture for Women’s Health, sponsored by Baptist Health.

Wilson joins us with a preview.

'The Explorer's Club'

Theatre Jacksonville travels back to the late 19th century in the name of riotous adventure with their production of The Explorers Club, Nell Benjamin’s comedic lampoon of an eccentric men’s society dedicated to the scientific pursuits of the day.

We learn about the show from director Tracy Anne Olin and cast member David Gile.

Mud Morganfield

Mud Morganfield performs tonight at a free concert headlining the Amelia Island 2016 Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival.

Morganfield is the eldest son of blues legend Muddy Waters, and has carried on his father’s legacy to thrill his many fans both here in this country and overseas.

Morganfield and the Jeff Malone, president of the Amelia Island Blues Society, join us with a preview.

Sean Birch joined the WJCT team in late 2011 and was with the company until 2016.
